These are distinct mountains that do not belong to a logical or easily definable “mountain range” in the far north of the Scottish mainland. Notably these include Ben Hope and Ben Loyal two of the iconic mountains of Sutherland. In addition Beinn Leoid and Meallan a’ Chuail are covered – they are remote peaks in the area between Loch Merkland and Glen Coul north west of Loch Shin. To the north of these, lone Ben Stack is also included.
Accommodation can be booked in the Durness, Tongue or Lairg areas, any of which are ideal locations for exploring these mountains and the wonderful wider area – you can see and read more about Northern Sutherland here.
