The Corbett, Meall a’Ghiubhais (Meall a’Ghiuthais on OS maps) with Loch Maree beyond. The hills visible on the north shore of Loch Maree are Beinn Airigh Charr and Meall Mheinnidh to the left and Slioch to the right. Meall a’Ghiubhais is most easily reached from either the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve “Mountain Trail” path or the path from the visitor centre at Aultroy just north of Kinlochewe. Taken on a spring evening from the northern shoulder of Ruadh-stac Beag. This shoulder is gained via scrambly ground on it’s east side. The “Long Stroll Slab” is an excellent Grade 3 scramble on quartzite slabs while “Overlooking Rib” has a climbing grade of Moderate. They are in a remote and atmospheric location and highly recommended. Find out more in the SMC guide Highland Scrambles North.
