An Teallach is one of the UK’s most celebrated mountains. It has two Munro summits; Bidean a’ Ghlas Thuill and Sgurr Fiona. This photo was taken close to the summit of the higher, Bidean a’ Ghlas Thuill, looking south across the corrie Toll an Lochain. Sgurr Fiona, on the right, is the finer, sharper peak. To its left is the beautiful airy Lord Berkeley’s Seat with the Corrag Bhuidhe pinnacles alongside. Left again are the tops of Stob Cadha Gobhlach and Sail Liath. Beyond are the wild remote hills of Fisherfield. This January day hadn’t looked too promising but I started out on the path from Dundonnell nevertheless. The weather improved as I got higher and though very windy on the ascent the tops cleared. After taking this photo I continued to Sgurr Fiona and then retraced my steps, always with a close eye on the weather. I didn’t see anyone else on this fine mountain all day long, what a privilege.
