Canisp Reflections Loch Awe

Photo of Canisp reflected in the calm water of Assynt's Loch Awe

Canisp is a fine hill, a Corbett but one of the less conspicuous hills of Assynt, easily overlooked in favour of the more shapely Suilven or Quinag, or the higher Munros of Conival and Ben More Assynt. Here it is seen on a calm December day from the shores of Loch Awe (not to be confused with the rather larger and better known Argyll and Bute version). The hill can be approached easily from the north end of the loch where a small bridge aids the crossing of the burn and a path leads east onto the flank of the hill. Loch Awe lies next to the A837 Ullapool to Lochinver road on the North Coast 500 route, just north of Elphin and the Ledmore junction.
