The statue of the first Duke of Sutherland who played a leading role in the clearance of people from the land for sheep in the 1800s. The statue is huge and stands close to the top of Ben Bhraggie overlooking Golspie. Despite some attempts to remove the statue it stands as a reminder of the clearances and the power of the rich and powerful over normal folk.
