Snow in May – Cairngorm 2012

Cold snaps aren't unusual in May in the Scottish mountains and we are in the grip of one just now; we are also in lockdown during the Covid-19 pandemic, so access to the hills is off limits. Here I remember a ski tour in stunning snow and weather conditions in the Cairngorms in May 2012 when we were able to get out and about.

Glen Etive – A February Day of Wild Showers

Photos from beautiful Glen Etive on a wild February day of vicious hail showers and spindrift interspersed with bright winter sunshine and atmospheric views. Photos from upper Glen Etive, the slopes of the Corbett, Beinn Maol Chaluim, and a time lapse sequence at the head of Loch Etive.

Cairngorm October Snow and Sunset

An October walk in the Cairngorm mountains, fresh autumn snow on the peaks and spectacular waterfalls; over the Cairngorm plateau and along the shores of Loch Avon, returning via the summit of Cairngorm for sunset. See the route and photos and read about it here.

A Few Summer Days In Arolla

In the last week of August I was part of a small group of friends visiting Arolla in the Valais region of Switzerland with the aim of exploring some of the hills above the village. Here are some of the photos from the trip including views of the Matterhorn, Dent d'Herens and Dent Blanche.
