Two quite different views along the stunning Grey Corries ridge from Stob Choire Claurigh, the highest of the Grey Corries at 1177m. The autumn view was taken during a high pressure temperature inversion with a sea of cloud covering all but the highest peaks. It had been a particularly gloomy morning down in the valley but on reaching the peaks the route west along the ridge was stunning and I had it all to myself.

The winter view was taken following a west to east traverse of the Grey Corries ridge on an early spring day in good weather following a late and heavy snowfall. The day was completed with an enjoyable detour to Stob Coire na Ceannain and a descent to Coire Choimhlidh made easy by plentiful snow in the gully of the Allt Doire an Teas.

From the left the visible peaks are hills around Loch Etive (Ben Starav? in the far distance), Binnein Mor, highest of the Mamores range, more distant Bidean nam Bian, Sgurr Choinnich Mor of the Grey Corries and Sgurr a’ Mhaim of the Mamores.
