Stepping Stones, Meallan a’ Chuail, Northern Sutherland

Late afternoon on an autumn descent from Beinn Leoid and Meallan a’ Chuail to the A838 Laxford to Lairg road. This good path leaves the A838 west of the head of the pass between Loch More and Loch Merkland and provides decent access towards Meallan a’ Chuail, a pleasant 750 m summit and Beinn Leoid (792 m) a Corbett. Beyond the glassy waters of the stream and the boggy moorland are Foinaven on the far left, Meallan Liath Coire Mhic Dhughaill, Carn Dearg and Carn an Tionail.
