Quinag Late Winter Snow

Photo of late winter snow on Quinag from the A894 main road between Inchnadamph and Kylesku

Quinag is one of the most striking and beautiful peaks of the far north west and this location near the high point of the road is the usual starting point for it’s multiple tops. The path can be seen heading across the moor land towards Bealach a’ Chornaidh. The southerly peak of Spidean Coinich (764 m) is seen on the left and is most easily reached by turning south from the main path a short distance above the road until gentle slabs can be followed west north west towards the peak. The main summit, and highest top of Quinag, is Sail Gharbh (808 m) and is on the right. Paths lead towards it from near Bealach a’ Chornaidh, one directly and the other via the unnamed 745 m top. The northern top of Quinag, Sail Ghorm (776 m) is also well worth a visit, as is the conspicuously flat top on the route out to it.
